Four arrested with pot in E. Brewton

Traffic stops in East Brewton have led to the arrest of four people on marijuana drug charges, with two seeing those charges elevated to felonies due to previous marijuana possession charges.

Renaldo Leron Bradley, 46, 5125 Brooklyn Road, Brewton, was arrested Aug. 23 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana I; Marciana Issac Russell, 36, 3672 Highway 29, Lot 9, East Brewton, was arrested Aug. 24 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II; and Roddrick Montell Lee, 42, 2122 Martin Luther King Ave., Atmore, was arrested Aug. 11 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana I.

According to reports from the East Brewton Police Department, Bradley was pulled over on Churchill Road in East Brewton for failure to give a turn signal. When the officer approached the vehicle he saw a rolled marijuana cigarette on the floorboard of the vehicle. Due to a previous marijuana conviction, the charge was upgraded to a felony.

Russell was pulled over on Forest Avenue for having no tag on his vehicle. The report stated Russell became disorderly and began cursing the officer. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana.

In addition to the drug charge, Russell was charged with disorderly conduct and failure to obey law enforcement.

Lee was pulled over on Travis Road when an East Brewton officer saw him driving a vehicle with knowledge that he had no driver's license. The officer reported smelling the odor of marijuana when he approached the vehicle and found a marijuana cigarette on the floorboard. Lee's marijuana charge was upgraded to a felony due to a previous conviction and he was also cited for driving with a revoked driver's license.

Christopher Ray Lowery, 20, 311 Roby St., East Brewton, was pulled over on Aug. 19 while driving down Dailey Street with a switched tag. The police department's K-9 alerted on the vehicle and the officers found a metal grinder containing marijuana residue in the back floorboard.

Lowery was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a switched tag.
