Brewton man jailed for giving fake bill

Easterling caught on tape passing $100 bill

A 23-year old Brewton man was charged with unlawful possession of a forged instrument after being accused of using a fake $100 bill to purchase food from Taco Bell on Douglas Avenue in Brewton.

According to Brewton police reports, Douglas Easterling, 102 North Forest Hill Drive, used the bill marked 'for cinema use only' and 'for motion picture use only' to make the purchase on Feb. 6.

Taco Bell employees later learned the bill was fake and watched video to identify Easterling as the person who passed the bill. It was reported to the Brewton Police Department the next day and Easterling was arrested.

Police warned merchants that several of the bills have turned up around the Brewton area and across the county.
