    One Brewton woman is dead and another remains in the intensive care unit at Sacred Heart Hospital after the two were struck by vehicles Thursday, night, July 6, as they crossed Highway 29 in Century coming from Vallarta Mexican Grill.     The Escambia County (Ala.) Commission voted unanimously Monday morning to name Parker Ross as the new county engineer. It was noted that Brad Solomon, who has served as the interim engineer since the commission voted 3-2 to fire the previous engineer Bill Bridges, will remain in the engineering office as the assistant engineer and the county's chief bridge inspector.
