Hillcrest student is found dead

High school senior stabbed multiple times; Clark is jailed on $1 million bond for murder

An 18-year-old student at Hillcrest High School died last Thursday night after an altercation with another man left him with multiple stab wounds.

The Evergreen Police Department received a call at 7:29 p.m. of a man who had been stabbed beside the road on Highway 83 North.

Officers arrived and found Robert Lamar Baldwin, 18, unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. Baldwin was transported by Conecuh EMS to Evergreen Medical Center where he died from his wounds later that night.

The Evergreen Police Department began an investigation at the scene and the State Bureau of Investigations along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency were called in to help with the investigation.

Very few details from the incident have been released, but the two men began an altercation that evening and it resulted in the stabbing.

After the initial investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Jimmy Clyde Clark, 33, of Evergreen for Murder. Clark turned himself in to authorities early Friday morning. He was placed under an initial $100,000 bond, but it was later increased to $1 million and he remains in the Conecuh County Jail at this time.
