Coastal to host casualty training

Event set for Friday

Coastal Alabama Community College will host a Mass Casualty Incident Training on the Atmore campus this Friday by partnering with multiple first responder organizations.

The trainings will vary by incident types involving the college’s community partners and departments within the college.

Participating partners in the drills will be the city of Atmore and Mayor Jim Staff; Atmore Community Hospital; Atmore fire and police departments and E-911; Poarch Creek fire and police departments and E-911; Poarch Creek Tribal Emergency Services; Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and E-911; Escambia County Emergency Management Agency; MedStar EMS; AirCare; and Coastal Alabama Community College administrators, nursing EMS and MAT students and faculty along with the college’s police, facilities, maintenance and marketing departments.

Lloyd Wing, director of marketing for Coastal Alabama Community College said the drills will provide valuable training for the college’s healthcare students and the participating partners.

A briefing will be held at 9 .m. in the new conference and education center and then all parties will break to get ready for their respective roles. The actual training events will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude by 2:45 p.m.
