Meet at junction

Flomaton hosting its Railroad Junction festival on Saturday

Saturday will be a day to meet at the junction as the Flomaton Area Chamber of Commerce kicks off its annual Railroad Junction Day in downtown Flomaton.

The day will begin at 9 a.m. with the raising of the flag and playing on the national anthem in front of the post office and wrap up at 2 p.m. with prize giveaways.

Susan Fountain, president of the Flomaton Area Chamber of Commerce, said Wednesday that currently there are 35-plus vendors and at least seven food trucks scheduled to participate in the festival.

Entertainment will begin on the stage at 9:30 a.m. with the Gulf Breeze band ‘3 Day Weekend’ playing. The band will entertain with 1970’s and 1980’s music, including classic rock, beach music, country, yacht rock and more. The band will remain on stage until 2 p.m. Bring your lawn chair.

The day will include a model train display at town hall and an antique car and motorcycle show on Palafox Street. There will also be entertainment for children that includes pony rides and a trip around downtown on the train.

People attending will also have an opportunity to walk away with cash money and a recliner.

Visit WPFL Radio 105’s booth in front of Larry White Insurance Agency to receive a card. Participants will have to visit several businesses downtown, including the model train display, to get their card stamped. A drawing will be held shortly before 2 p.m. with a $500 winner and two $250 winners. Barrow Furniture will also be giving away a recliner and people must register at Barrow’s. The drawing for all prizes will be held at the stage and you must be present to win.
