Crank up the horn for Escambia's community band

Lambert wants all players to join the group

Come one, come all; John Lambert is trying to resurrect the Escambia County Community Band and is seeking players from across the area.

"If you, or anyone you know, participated in a band program please consider the Escambia County Community Band," Lambert said. "Please like our Facebook page and make a comment."

Lambert said the band experienced difficulty obtaining adequate instrumentation last year.

"We hope to recruit enough to remedy the problem," Lambert said. "If it seems we have enough interest and adequate instrumentation we'll schedule rehearsals in a few weeks."

Lambert noted the community band is open to everyone with band experience, including former band members at Jay, Northview and beyond.

He said if there is enough interest, plans are to rehearse Mondays in Flomaton and Thursdays in Atmore from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"If it works out we'll schedule a few concerts toward the end of June and perhaps early July," Lambert said.

In past years, the Escambia County Community Band has played at the annual Fourth of July celebration at Windcreek.

If anyone is interested, call (or better yet text) Lambert at 251-363-7567.
