Home invasion suspect arrested

Flomaton man one of two suspects in early armed home invasion on Ivey Street in Century

A suspect in a home invasion in Century Sunday was taken into custody Monday outside his Flomaton residence and now faces additional drug charges in Alabama.

Anthony Williams, 51, 867 Martin Luther King Drive, Flomaton, was charged with home invasion robbery with a firearm and criminal mischief in Escambia County, Fla., and faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in Escambia County, Ala.

According to police reports, Williams is a suspect in a 4 a.m. home invasion of a residence on Ivey Street in Century where two suspects, with at least one armed with a gun, entered the home and demanded money. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The K-9 team tracked from the Ivey Street residence to Williams' house in Flomaton, where Williams was questioned.

Warrants for Williams' arrest were later obtained by the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office and Flomaton police went to his residence with the Florida arrest warrants and a search warrant.

Williams was not at home, but officials said a search of his home revealed cocaine and drug paraphernalia. While officers were searching his home, Williams drove up then drove next door to his mother's house, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

The K-9 tracking team from Fountain Prison was called and as the search began, Williams walked back toward his house on Martin Luther King Drive and was arrested.

Williams was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton and jailed on $10,000 bond on the drug charges. He also has a hold order to be transferred back to Escambia County, Fla. Florida officials are still searching for a second suspect.
