Pursuit to end with charges

A Brewton man is facing multiple traffic citations after fleeing Flomaton police early Monday morning and the owner of the vehicle he was driving at the time is also facing charges.

Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis said the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu that reached about 130 mph on Highway 31 near the Frank P. 'Skippy' White Bridge South has been identified.

Chief Davis said he first clocked the vehicle doing 95 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 113 about 1 a.m. Monday heading toward Flomaton. He radioed ahead and Officer Issac Lopez clocked the same vehicle driving 95 in a 45 mph zone.

Davis said the vehicle turned right onto Highway 31 and reached speeds of about 130 mph as it passed the old TCR Station near the bridge over Big Escambia Creek.

Davis said the vehicle was being driven erratically and when it turned left onto Highway 29 heading toward Florida, he cancelled the pursuit.

Davis said Lopez was able to get a vehicle tag number from the vehicle. He said the owner lives in Brewton and Brewton police went to the residence, but refused to tell officers who was driving the vehicle. Flomaton police also talked with the owner and again she refused to identify the driver.

Davis said the driver is facing multiple charges and the owner is facing a charge of hindering prosecution.
