    The Escambia County School System landed four schools in the top 25 of the most academic improved schools across the state of Alabama, landing the most schools on that list than any other school system in the state.     Monroe County Sheriff's deputies took a Century man into custody Monday after a local grand jury indicted him on charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with a December, 2022, shooting that left Lavor Chante Johnson of Century dead. Commission tabled two late additions to Monday’s agenda involving a possible grant application and adopting a hazard mitigation plan after commissioners questioned exactly what they were voting on.
