    A Flomaton man remains in the Conecuh County jail on attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting a man in Castleberry and fleeing back to a Flomaton residence on Upper Creek Road. Eric Mathis, 23, 543 Highway 113, was arrested Saturday morning on the attempted murder charge for shooting a 56-year old Castleberry man in the head.     Barring a successful appeal, Charles 'Chuck' Calvin McMullen will spend the rest of his life in prison after a Santa Rosa County judge sentenced the former law enforcement officer to eight consecutive life terms plus 15 years for sexually abusing four young boys. McMullen, a former Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office deputy, was working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement when he was arrested in November, 2016.     A Century man is facing a felony molestation charge after law enforcement responded to a sexual battery complaint made by Shannon Spence June 30.     Flomaton's monthly bills dropped from more than $80,000 to about $66,000 and the town's finances are in the black. However, council members said Monday night that it needs to keep a close watch on expenditures.     Today (Thursday, July 12) is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot in Escambia County, Ala., for the July 17 Republican runoff. Circuit Clerk John Robert Fountain said as of Tuesday he had sent out 23 absentee ballots and had received nine ballots back.
