Jay woman is injured in ATV accident

Two airlifted after being ejected in crash in Conecuh

Two people were severely injured, including a Jay woman, when they were ejected from a 2018 Polaris side-by-side on County Road 7 near Pearl Lane in Conecuh County about 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23. Carl Shannon Stacey of Lenox was driving the ATV and Taylor Crawley of Jay was the passenger. Pearl Lane is located just north of the Lenox Crossroads on County Road 7.

The ATV flipped, ejecting both from the vehicle and they were both severely injured in the crash. Neither subject was wearing seat belts at the time. Lenox Volunteer Fire Department, Repton Volunteer Fire Department, Conecuh County Rescue Squad, Conecuh EMS, Alabama State Troopers and Conecuh E-911 all responded to the crash.

Both victims were transported by helicopter to the University of South Alabama Trauma Center in Mobile to undergo treatment for broken bones and other injuries.

Stacey has been released from the hospital. As of press time Wednesday, Crawley remained hospitalized. No update on her condition was available.

The wreck is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency with Trooper Ealum listed as the responding officer.
