Flomaton police recognized at banquet

NeSmith honors his officers, dispatchers for a job well done

As part of a first responder banquet last Thursday, Flomaton Police Chief Dane NeSmith recognized several of his officers, dispatchers and Flomaton's lone paid fireman, Jeremy Lee, for their outstanding work serving the community.

NeSmith said it takes a team effort that not only involves police officers but dispatchers and the fire department. He noted the dispatchers play a key role in relaying accurate information in a timely manner.

Honored last Thursday were Ashley Clark, Dispatcher of the Year; Lenny Conley for 20 years of distinguished service; John Pittman for 10 years of distinguished service and the police department's 'Top Shot Award'; John Skipper for excellence in the line of duty; Michael Steele for excellence in the line of duty; Charlie Land for being named to the Alabama Law Enforcement Drug Task Force; Clay Smith as Investigator of the Year; dispatcher Tatum Padilla for excellence in the line of duty; and Lee was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his help with the police department.
