Flomaton moves Santa parade to Dec. 9

Due to potential heavy rain Saturday morning, the Flomaton Area Chamber of Commerce has moved Saturday’s Christmas parade to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, to coincide with the Christmas Bazaar in downtown Flomaton.

The town of Jay is proceeding with its plans to hold its Christmas parade this Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. at town hall. After the parade, festivities will continue on Commerce Street with the Joy in Jay Christmas Festival that will include Santa’s Workshop, food and craft vendors, an ice skating rink, carnival rides, a rock climbing wall, face painting and more.

There will also be a scavenger hunt with a $500 prize.

Jay’s day will kick off Saturday’s events with a 3-K Reindeer Run at 8 a.m. beginning on Commerce Street. The registration fee is $20 and runners and walkers can register at Jay Town Hall.

Flomaton’s third annual Christmas Bazaar will now be held downtown in conjunction with the Dec. 9 parade.

Town Clerk Carrie Moore said she has more than 50 vendors signed up for the day that include arts and crafts and good food for the bazaar which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendor registration is free and people can reserve a spot by calling Moore at 251-296-2431.

They day will include children’s games and the kiddie train will run throughout the day.
