Would be robbers shot by the victim

Two men are airlifted with gunshot wounds

Two men apparently attempted to rob the wrong people after one of the intended victims shot the two would-be robbers, sending both to the hospital.

According to Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff Heath Jackson, about 7 p.m. Monday, sheriff’s deputies, along with Poarch and Atmore police officers, responded to the 7400 block of Jack Springs Road in reference to a shots fired disturbance.

Sheriff Jackson reported when officers arrived they found two male subjects suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were provided life-saving measures and later airlifted to nearby trauma centers.

During the investigation, Sheriff Jackson said it was learned that the two-gunshot victims had attempted to rob two other men at gunpoint. However, one of the intended victims had a weapon and opened fire and struck the two would-be robbers.

Sheriff Jackson said Wednesday the case is still under investigation and there was no update on the condition of the two gunshot victims.
