Uses stolen credit card multiple times

A Flomaton man has been arrested and warrants are signed on a second person after being accused of stealing a credit card and making 42 transactions totaling more than $951.

Buddy Wayne Jones, 39, 141 Ledcaylynn Drive, was charged with 10 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one count of theft of property II. Warrants have also been issued by the Flomaton Police Department for the arrest of Kimberli Garner-Gafford on a count o0f unauthorized use of a credit card.

Flomaton Police Chief Dane NeSmith said Jones was working at Brantley Automotive when he allegedly stole a credit card from inside a vehicle left there for repairs.

The owner of the credit card contacted police after noticing unauthorized charges to the card.

Chief NeSmith said Inv. Clay Smith and Sgt. Charlie Land began investigating and discovered the stolen credit card had been used in Castleberry, Brewton, Flomaton and Century.

The officers discovered the card was used on-line to book a room at the M Star Days Inn in Brewton under Garner-Gafford's name.

Chief NeSmith said video footage also showed Jones purchasing tennis shoes at Hibbett's Sports using the stolen credit card and using the card eight times at the self checkout lane at Walmart in Brewton.

Chief NeSmith also said the card was used to pay a utility bill at Southern Pine Electric Co-op in Brewton.

"My officers did a great job following up and making this case," NeSmith said.

NeSmith also said more charges are possible.
