Cunningham named to Century council

The Century Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to appoint Henry Cunningham as Seat 2 interim council member after a split vote knocked nominee Eddie Hammond out of the running.

Councilwoman Sandra McMurray Jackson nominated Hammond. Council members Alicia Johnson and Jackson voted yes and council members Shelisa Abraham and Dynette Lewis voted no. Hammond, Cunningham and Kevin Cottrell were the three people who had submitted their names for consideration to be appointed.

Councilwoman Jackson then nominated Cunningham and the council approved unanimously.
