Reckless Flomaton man jailed for meth

Atmore police respond to reckless driving complaint, make stop and make drug arrest

A call to Atmore police about a vehicle traveling recklessly on Highway 31 from Wawbeek heading toward Atmore led to a traffic stop that ended up sending a Flomaton man to jail after officers reported finding a plastic bag of methamphetamine inside his vehicle.

Jesse Ellis, 38, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

According to reports released by the Atmore Police Department, about 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 26, police received a call concerning reckless driving and gave officers a description of the vehicle.

Police reported a short time later an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed as it passed through the intersection of Highway 31 and Medical Park Drive.

After stopping the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Ellis. Officers reported while talking with Ellis the officer noticed a small plastic bag containing a clear crystal-like substance that tested positive positive for meth. The officer also reported finding a rubber hose that contained residue that also tested positive for meth.

Ellis was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
