Atmore ID's its murder suspect

Pettaway is considered armed, dangerous

The Atmore Police Department has identified Antonio LeMarcus Pettaway II, 19, of Mobile as the person responsible for the July 25 murder of Jatyrain Aquamini Tolbert, 22, of Atmore.

Police have obtained warrants for Pettaway's arrest and stated he should be considered armed and dangerous. Police added that he may still be in the Mobile area and if seen he should not be approached but people should dial 911.

About 5:05 p.m. July 25, Atmore police were dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Brooks Lane and King Street.

Police reported when they arrived they found on of the drivers, later identified as Tolbert, was unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Tolbert was transported to Atmore Community Hospital and later died.

Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks said last week that the department's criminal investigation unit was dispatched to the area prior to the crash in reference to gunshots being heard from a nearby residence.
