Charges mount on Flomaton resident

Turk arrested in Pensacola on meth charge

Charges continue to mount on a Flomaton man who was on probation, out on bond and had a warrant for his arrest when he was arrested last Wednesday and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and attempting to introduce the drug into the Escambia County Jail in Pensacola.

Caleb Eli Turk, 31, 1975 Welka Road was jailed in Pensacola on $15,000 bond on the new charges with holds to prevent his release in Escambia County, Ala.

At the time of his arrest on Pace Boulevard, Turk was on probation for possession of a controlled substance in Alabama and out on bond for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Turk was arrested in Escambia County, Ala., on Feb. 9, 2022 on the possession with intent to distribute charge after officers stated they found 19 grams of meth in his possession.

Turk also had outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court when he was arrested last week.

According to reports from the Escambia County, Fla., Sheriff's Office, Turk was arrested May 17 in Pensacola on the outstanding warrant from Alabama. The deputy reported he conducted a search of Turk before putting him in his patrol car.

The deputy who transported Turk to the county jail in Pensacola stated he observed Turk "fidgeting on the left side of his body" while in transport.

After arriving at the county jail, the deputy asked Turk if there was anything on him that may have been missed in the original search. He reported Turk said "No".

Turk was searched again at the Escambia County Jail in Pensacola and a correctional officer reported finding a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance concealed in Turk's waistband. The bag, containing 21.4 ounces, tested positive for meth and Turk was arrested on the trafficking and introducing a controlled substance into a detention facility.

Escambia County, Ala., District Attorney Steve Billy said he will file to have Turk's bond and probation revoked in Alabama.
