SORNA filed on violator

Atmore man is jailed

A 22-year old Atmore resident who was convicted in July, 2020, for enticing an 8-year old for immoral purposes is back in the Escambia County Jail on two counts of violating Alabama's Sexual Offender and Notification Act.

Court documents show Robert Lee Stabler, 215 Virginia Drive, was 19-years old when he was charged with enticing a minor for immoral purposes. He was arrested again for failing to follow the protocol of being a registered sexual offender. After his arrest, he was jailed this week and given a $50,000 bond during a hearing Tuesday before District Judge Eric Coale.

According to court records, Stabler was arrested in 2019 on the enticing charge and convicted on July 8, 2020.

Court records also show he was arrested on the SORNA charges for failing to register, as required by law, with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

Reports state from Oct. 26, 2022 to Nov. 17, 2022, Stabler vacated the residence of 215 Virginia Drive, Atmore and failed to report an address change.

Records also indicate Stabler failed to immediately obtain a driver's license or other valid identification card after his original registration.

During the bond hearing before Judge Coale, Stabler testified he had no job or money and requested a court-appointed attorney.

Judge Coale granted Stabler's hardship application and appointed Jeremy Hawsey to represent him.
