Pollard teen flown after vehicle crash

Helicopter flies McBride to Sacred Heart

A Pollard teenager was taken by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola early Tuesday morning following a singe-vehicle crash that left him trapped inside the vehicle.

The Flomaton Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of McBride Street and Pollard Road at 5:31 a.m. in reference to a wreck with entrapment.

Fire Chief Steve Stanton said Dustin McBride, 18, was still inside the vehicle trapped under the steering wheel. Firefighters used the jaws of life to free McBride from the wreckage. He was transported by ambulance to Little Escambia Baptist Church and then transported by AirCare 2 to Sacred heart with unknown injuries.

Stanton said it appeared McBride's vehicle hit a tree head-on at the intersection. An update on McBride's condition was unavailable at press time.

In addition to Flomaton, the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, D.W. McMillan ambulance, the sheriff's office and Alabama state troopers responded to the crash.
