Meth, marijuana drop at prison nets both with $1.5 million bond

A Birmingham man and Tuscaloosa man are being held on $1.5 million bond each for the delivery of drugs and cell phones to the Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore.

Derrick Anthony, 49, 4339 North East St., Birmingham, and Larry Sentell Mack, 33, 117 Juanita Drive, Tuscaloosa, were both charged with trafficking methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana I and promoting prison contraband II.

According to court records on Aug. 27 the two are accused of introducing or trying to introduce 462 grams of methamphetamine, 188 grams of marijuana, 54 grams of an unidentified white powder, 28 grams of an unidentified white powder and 13 cell phones to Fountain, located at 9677 Highway 21 North, Atmore.

The two were arrested and booked into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton. During a bond hearing before District Judge Eric Coale, both said they had no money or job and requested an attorney be appointed to represent them. Judge Coale accepted their hardship applications and granted court-appointed attorneys.

In addition to the $1.5 million bond, Judge Coale also said the two are banned from Alabama Department of Corrections property if they are released on bond.
