Flomaton traffic stop nets dugs

Pensacola man charged with having meth

A Pensacola man pulled over in Flomaton for a switched license plate was later arrested on drug charges after officers reported finding about 9 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.

Jontae Yochae Williams, 6824 Tiki Lane, Apartment 4, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Flomaton police also issued traffic citations to Williams charging him with having a switched tag, driving while his license was suspended and operating a vehicle without having insurance.

Flomaton Police Chief Chance Thompson said after the traffic stop, K-9 Boo alerted on the vehicle which led to the discovery of the meth. Officers also found a glass pipe believed to be used to ingest the meth and baggies to store the illegal drugs.

Police then transported Williams to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

During a bond hearing before District Judge Eric Coale, Williams said he had no job and no income and requested an attorney be appointed to represent him.

Judge Coale set the bond at $50,000 and appointed the public defender's office to represent Williams.
