Stewart is leading the money trail

Commission candidate reports $6,650 in outside contributions

With the Republican Primary set for May 24, in the three contested local elections, District 3 county commission candidate Scottie Stewart leads the way with outside political contributions of $6,650 according to information provided by the Alabama Secretary of State’s office.

Not including in-kind contributions from himself, Stewart reported the following contributions to his campaign: $1,000 from American Concrete Supply; $1,000 from C&C Hauling Co.; $2,000 from Cooper Pulpwood; $1,000 from South Alabama Materials, Inc.; $1,500 from Thomas M. Arrington; and $150 from Thomas W. Ashcraft.

Larry White, who is also seeking the Republican nomination for the District 3 commission seat, listed $1,500 in outside contributions with $500 from J.R. and Betty Jones and $1,000 from Harvey and Betty White.

Billy Blair, also a candidate for the District 3 commission seat listed $400 in itemized outside contributions with $200 from Jerry Bell, $100 from Robin D. Brewton and $100 from Robert Carden.

In the race for the District 4 seat on the Escambia County School Board, Cindy Jackson listed $2,690 in itemized contributions that included $200 from Randall Little; $40 from Richard Scott; $1,000 from Stephen G. Smitherman; $100 from Woodie Melton; $1,000 from Creamer Dozer Service, Inc.; and $350 from Dr. Ernest Okeke.

Rachel Fore Wagner and John Brantley, both candidates for the District 4 school board seat, reported no outside contributions.

Sherry Digmon, candidate for the District 6 school board seat reported a $1,000 contribution from Charles and Linda A. Godwin. Michael Bowens, also seeking the District 6 seat, did not file a report.
