Man accused of beating two children jailed

Trawick was arrested for willful child abuses

A man described in court records as either a natural parent, step parent, adoptive parent or legal guardian was arrested in Escambia County (Ala.) on charges of willful abuse of a child under the age of 18 and domestic violence III assault for allegedly beating and biting two children ages 15 and 16.

Charles Virgil Trawick, 42, of Spanish Fort was jailed on $50,000 bond with stipulations he has no contact with the underage victims.

According to court records, on or about March 7, 2021 Trawick is accused of punching the 16-year old child with a closed fist on the right side of the child's face, which caused swelling and a red mark. The report notes that the child blacked out briefly from being punched. It also states that during the altercation with the child, Trawick bit the middle finger of the child causing the skin to break and bleed.

In another incident that occurred on or about Nov.12, 2020, Trawick is accused of beating the 15-year old with a belt on his legs, stomach, arms and hands and also slapping the child in the face with an open hand.

During a bond hearing before District Judge Eric Coale Sept.16, Trawick reported he had no income and was granted hardship and will be represented by the public defender's office.
