Michele McClung is new Escambia County (Ala.) Superintendent of Education

Selected on second ballot in Friday afternoon school board meeting from among six candidates

Michele M. McClung, director of teaching, learning and assessment for the Mobile County public school system, was selected as the new Escambia County (Ala.) School System superintendent during a special meeting of the school board Friday afternoon.

After narrowing the list of applicants to two, the board voted 4-3 to name McClung as the new superintendent to replace John Knott.

Voting for McClung were Loumeek White, Danny Benjamin, Coleman Wallace and Mike Edwards. Voting for finalist Gary Glass, principal at Monroe County High School, were Mike Hoomes, David Nolin, and Cindy Jackson.
