Boo helps find meth after stop

Two arrested in Flomaton for illegal drugs

An alert by Flomaton's new K-9 'Boo' led to the arrest of a Castleberry man and Brewton woman after officers reported finding methamphetamine inside their vehicle following a traffic stop.

Tommy Ray Few, 51, Miller Road, Castleberry, and Erin Morgan Powell, 27, Herndon Lane, Brewton, were both charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Few was also issued a traffic citation for improper lights and Powell was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

Flomaton Police Chief Chance Thompson said he initiated the traffic stop for improper lights last Friday (June 25) when Few passed him on Highway 31 near Old Fannie Road.

After officers identified Few as the driver and Powell as the passenger, Thompson said 'Boo' alerted on the truck. A subsequent search revealed about 16 grams of methamphetamine, multiple pipes, a scale and a loaded firearm.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center. District Judge Eric Coale set bonds of $50,000 on both suspects.
