Man jailed for sex abuse of child

Flomaton man arrested for abusing child less than 12; father is registered sex offender

A 47-year old Flomaton man has been arrested on sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age for allegedly abusing a 9-year old girl.

Michael Obrien Crenshaw, 1079 Jordan Road, was also charged with enticing a child for immoral purposes. If convicted, Crenshaw could face up to 30 years in prison.

Court records also show Crenshaw's father, Patrick Crenshaw, 73, is a registered sex offender after pleading guilty on Dec. 14, 2010 to sex abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Flomaton Police Chief Chance Thompson said Michael Crenshaw's alleged sex abuse was reported to his department and an investigation began. Thompson said Flomaton police and the Child Advocacy Center investigated the case and presented the evidence to the district attorney's office, which led to the arrest warrant on Feb. 5.

Court records show Michael Crenshaw is alleged to have subjected the young girl to sexual contact "on or about March 1, 2020 thru May, 2020".

Records also show Michael Crenshaw is charged with enticing the child to his bedroom for the purpose of fondling or feeling the sexual or genital parts of her body.

Michael Crenshaw was released from the Escambia County Detention Center on $300,000 bond with stipulations that he be placed under house arrest with a GPS monitor and have no contact with the victim or any child under the age of 16.
