Carlton Lindsey Grissett

Carlton Lindsey Grissett, 77, of Century, Fla., died Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Mr. Grissett was born April 6, 1943, to Dempsey and Emma Grissett, in Century. Relocating to Wildwood, N.J., he managed a hotel restaurant as head chef and worked in the construction industry as a carpenter. He returned to Century in 2012 and became a member of Bethel AFM Church of God under Bishop Russell Fountain, Jr.

A private homegoing celebration was held Wednesday, May 2, with Jackson McMurray Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Grissett is survived by his wife, Frances Grissett; six children; eight siblings, Clara (James) Washington of Detroit, Mich., Betty Washington, Viollett (Junius, Jr.) McGee, Deborah Williams, all of Century, Minnie Cummings, Ethel Grissett, and Terrance (Teresa) Grissett and Anthony (Elaine) Grissett, all of Augusta, Ga.; numerous grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and other family members and friends.

Mr. Grissett was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Nathaniel Adkins and Melvin Grissett; and two sisters, Murriel Short and Vivian Richards.
