Jay fire, hospital get equipment

Maverick Natural Resources donated personal protective equipment (PPE) from its inventory to Jay Hospital and Town of Jay Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday, April 7.

The donation included 75 N95 respirator masks, 40 boxes of nitrile gloves, and 36 pairs of clear safety glasses. Maverick personnel typically use masks, gloves, and glasses of the types donated while conducting day-to-day operations in the Jay oil and gas field and plant location.

The donation provides much-needed equipment to front-line medical professionals and first responders battling coronavirus in Jay.

Maverick leadership resoundingly approved the donation after learning local hospital and fire department workers, who are at greatest risk of exposure to COVID-19, are experiencing shortages of the critical PPE

“ Maverick is an oil and gas company with an unwavering commitment to safety,” said Vice President of Health Safety and Environment Ben Watkins. “Now more than ever, we are focused on identifying the needs of our community partners and supporting them however we can.”

Maverick is the largest oil and gas producer in the state of Florida.
