Howard 'Snookie' Thompson

Howard “Snookie” Thompson, 82, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, in Pine Grove, Ala.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Walnut Hill, Fla. and former resident of Century who had resided in Pine Grove, Ala. Since 1976. Retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service, he had retired from the Alabama Department of Corrections with 20 years of service and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Grant Dyes officiating. Burial followed at Pine Grove Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Thompson is survived by two sons, Vincent M. Thompson and Robert G. (Polly) Thompson, both of Bay Minette, Ala.; one brother, William “Bill” Dreadin of Pensacola; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Morrell Thompson; one son, Phillip Howard Thompson; his parents, Albert and Aletha Thompson; and two brothers, Otha J. Dreadin and Leon Elton Dreadin.
