Bessie Kahanek Lee, 98, of Century, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, in Brewton.
Mrs. Lee was born September 9, 1921, to Joseph J. and Frances Kananek in Wallis, Texas. After graduating high school in Wallis, she went on to become a Rosie the Riveter during WWII. She was a member of the NARFE and the Byrneville Methodist Church.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Bo Bell officiating. Burial followed at the Byrneville Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
