Jailed sex offender jailed again

Weekes back in jail about an hour after posting $100,000 bond for violating offender notice

A former Flomaton resident listed as a registered sex offender was arrested on two violations of Alabama's Sexual Offender Registration Notification Act, and released on $100,000 bond but was back in jail about an hour later when he was arrested again on a violation of probation warrant.

Trey Alexander Weekes, 23, was arrested last Thursday on the SORNA violations for failing to report an address change and for moving into a forbidden residence, which was less than 2,000 feet from a school or daycare, which was in violation of his sex registration notification requirements.

According to court records, Weekes was supposed to be living at 1792 Lowery Landing Road in Brewton. However, investigators with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office learned he had moved into a Flomaton residence that was not only within 2,000 feet of a school or daycare center, but he failed to report his address move to authorities.

Weekes was arrested on the two SORNA violations last Thursday and jailed on $100,000 bond. He was released on bond Friday with the stipulation he wear an ankle monitor. After being released from the Escambia County Detention Center, Weekes went up the street to the courthouse to be fitted with an ankle monitor.

As employees were putting on the ankle monitor, Weekes was served with a warrant for violating his probation on the previous charges and he was transported back to the detention center and is being held without bond.

Weekes was originally arrested on March 29, 2017, and charged with two counts of rape II for allegedly having sexual intercourse with two different girls younger and 16, but older than 12. Weekes was 20-years old at the time.

After being released from jail on the sex charges, Weekes was back in jail about a week later on charges filed by the Flomaton Police Department for distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana) to a minor and unlawful possession of of marijuana I for other than personal use.

The drug case stemmed from a complaint filed with the Flomaton Police Department that Weekes had given a 13-year old marijuana while the juvenile was visiting Weekes' residence in Flomaton.

At the time of his arrest, then Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis reported evidence obtained from a cell phone supported the drug allegations against Weekes and warrants were obtained.

On March 12, 2019, Weekes pleaded guilty to one count of rape II and was given a 128 month prison sentence, which was suspended. He was placed on five years of supervised probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.

In addition to the new SORNA charges, Weekes faces the possibility of serving the remainder of his 128 month sentence in prison.
