Street address required

By Jan. 1, 2020, Flomaton residents and businesses will be required to have street addresses posted and must be displayed in a location plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property.

The Flomaton Town Council voted to mandate the posting of 911 addresses to assist police, fire and medical personnel.

Numbers and letters must be a minimum of 4 inches high and a half-inch wide and must contrast with their background.

Residents who receive their mail at home in a mailbox in front of their home should place the address numbers on both sides of the mailbox.

Those who utilize a post office box can place the addresses on a sign or post at the entrance of the right-of-way and should be at least 3 feet off the ground.

The Flomaton Fire Department will help supplying and installing address signs for $15, which covers the cost of the signs.

To have the fire department order and install address signs, contact Bianca James at Flomaton Town Hall at 251-296-2431.
