Book inspires new fundraiser

October 17, 2019

Shel Silverstein's book, “The Giving Tree” has inspired a new fundraiser sponsored by the Flomaton Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. The fundraiser, appropriately called 'The Giving Tree' is possible by a partnership between Escambia County Bank and United Bank of Flomaton and the PTO to raise money for much needed school supplies in local classrooms.

Inside of each bank is a tree. Located next to the trees will be a basket or jar filled with paper apples. Each apple has the name of a teacher from Flomaton Elementary School, Flomaton Middle School or Flomaton High School. Along with the teacher's name will be a wish list for that teacher's classroom. Once an apple is selected, the idea will be to purchase the wished for item. Return the item or items along with the paper apple to the bank from which the apple was selected. The paper apple will then be placed on the tree.

All wishes are due back to the banks by Friday, Nov. 15, 2019.
