The Sunshine Report

Are you ready for this one? Do you believe offering and receiving words of appreciation makes for a healthier brain and body? The feelings of gratitude we experience or provide create an ever-increasing sense of well-being. Studies have proven that gratefulness enhances health.

Those of us who feel thankful and regularly express gratitude tend to appreciate our health more. This leads us to take better care of ourselves and as a result, we feel more energetic and full of life. Gratitude helps us sustain a high energy thought pattern that connects us to the best that life has to offer. The grateful mind tends to focus on the best, and therefore attracts the best.

Possessing an "Attitude of Gratitude” helps us to be more resilient, too. By being constantly aware of the kind acts of others, we tend to look for the positive in almost any situation. This makes it easier for us to overcome the trauma of a bad experience or occurrence.

Are you mindful enough to reflect upon your present blessings and are grateful for what you have? We all have many blessings that we can thankful for and when we focus on them and not on our past misfortunes--of which we all have had some—we feel better about ourselves and our circumstances.

It was Zig Ziglar who reminded us that, “Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” And I might add, “The more gratefulness we express, the more worthiness we have as human beings.”

When we acknowledge things with an attitude of gratitude, our mood and perspective take on a whole new aura of positiveness. The gratefulness element keeps us keenly aware of the value of others in shaping our lives. Being thankful for what we have, regardless of how little it might be, opens the door for greater conditions to prevail in our lives. An “attitude of gratitude” will definitely improve our altitude.

Think about these words:

By relying on others as they do on you,

You see how interdependent we all are too;

And why it is an important and worthy goal,

To take time to say "thanks" for others' role.
