William Etheridge Smith, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 following and extended illness.
Mr. Smith was born Sept. 12, 1939, to William Robert and Bertha Etheridge Smith in Crenshaw County, Ala. A 1957 graduate of Dozier High School, he went to work for A and P in Andalusia and transferred to Brewton in 1958. He left the A and P in 1963 and went to work with Liberty National Insurance, retiring in 1999 after 37 years of service. A former member of the Brewton Kiwanis Club and Habitat for Humanity, he served as a volunteer with T.R. Miller High School and was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Brewton.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Funeral Home directing.s
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Sandra Smith; two sons, Steven Smith and Alan (Jeanie) Smith; three sisters, Abbie Langston of Dozier, Ala., Audrey Carlisle of Prattville, Ala. and Glenda (Kent) Bowers of Allentown, Fla.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
