Police find meth, pills and pipes

A Century woman is facing drug charges following a two-vehicle collision last Wednesday night after she apparently pulled out of the Pizza Hut parking lot in Flomaton and into the path of a vehicle that was headed south on Highway 31.

Warrants have been signed for the arrest of Debra Sims, 62, 575 Fannie Road, charging her with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), unlawful possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched at 9:48 p.m. on Sept. 25 in reference to a wreck near the intersection of Highway 31 and 29.

Flomaton Police Capt. Chance Thompson said Sims pulled out of the Pizza Hut parking lot onto Highway 31 and was broadsided by another vehicle. Firemen had to uses the jaws of life to cut the driver's side door off of Sims' vehicle to free her from the wreckage.

Thompson said police then found multiple glass pipes that contained meth residue, a baggie that contained meth and a bag of what appeared to be crushed up pills inside Sims' vehicle. He also reported Sims had a cigarette carton in her shirt pocket that contained multiple hydrocodone pills.

Thompson said Sims was transported by ambulance to a Florida hospital and the driver of the other vehicle was not injured. He also said he has secured warrants for Sims' arrest once she's released from the hospital.
