Willie James Taylor, Sr.

Willie James Taylor, Sr., 77, died Friday, August 30, 2019.

Mr. Taylor was born July 9, 1943 to Willie Dean and Ethel L. Taylor in Century. He graduated from Georgia Washington Carver High School and the Florida Apostolic Bible College, earning a Bachelor's degree in Christian Education. Retired from the New York City Department of Corrections, he became a member of Bethel A.F.M. Church of God and served as a deacon, member of the male choir and the usher board.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at Bethel A.F.M. Church of God with Bishop Russell Fountain, Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Century Cemetery with Jackson-McMurray Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Muriel Taylor of Pensacola; three sons, Willie (Danielle) Taylor of Atlanta, Anthony Taylor of Buffalo, N.Y. and Devante Taylor of Pensacola; three daughters, Denise (Alfred) Fields of Jacksonville, Fla., Adrienne Sturrup of Leander and Texas, Monica Smith of Atlanta; two brothers, David Lee (Jocelyn) Taylor of Malden, Mass. and Johnny Cunningham of Century, Fla.; two sisters, Annie R. (Albert) Johnson and Barbara (Daniel) Roberts of Century; 19grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, Nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members and friends.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Phyllis Pleasant.
