Shelby Dewey 'Butch' Blackman

Shelby Dewey “Butch” Blackman, 76, Saturday, July 20, 2019 in Brewton, Ala.

Mr. Blackman was a native of Pensacola, former 27-year resident of Jay, Fla., and had resided in Brewton for the last 9 and a half years. A volunteer with the Dixonville VFD and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he served with the USMC as a frogman.

The funeral was held at 12 p.m., Thursday, July 26, at the Cornerstone Christian Church with Rev. Fredrick Barrow. Burial followed at Traveler's Rest Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Blackman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jackie Blackman of Brewton; four sons, Shelby Blackman, Jr. and Jeffrey S. Blackman, both of Marianna, Fla., William O. Blackman of Mobile and John K. Blackman of Brewton; one daughter, Pamela L. Blackman (Anthony) Cofield of Jay; two brothers, James Ray Blackman of Bagdad, Fla. and and Clifford W. (Joyce) Blackman of Cantonment, Fla.; one sister, Clarice Cobb of Bagdad; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Blackman was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Anita Blackman; one brother, Robert A. Blackman; and one sister, Sonja Bennett.
