Dubbed “the squad,” four freshmen Democrat Congresswomen have seized the national spotlight and made quite a splash in Congress. Their elections are remarkable firsts. Representatives Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) are the first Muslim women to be elected to Congress. Representative Ayanna Pressley (MA) is the first black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts. And young upstart, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) won an incredible upset to become the youngest member currently serving in Congress.
While these achievements are notable, their infamous notoriety springs from their aggressive agendas and vicious tactics, not their ethnic or racial backgrounds. However, they readily and regularly use their ethnicity and race to bludgeon any critics, regardless of party, of their radical leftist policies and extreme progressive ideologies. The squad is unapologetically anti-capitalism and pro-socialism. Demanding open borders, they serially smear U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Virulently anti-Israel, they are also often anti-American.
President Trump sparked a national firestorm when he called out the squad on Twitter for their routine remarks disparaging our system of government, law enforcement, and thinly veiled anti-Semitism. The predictable media response was immediate apoplexy. And as usual, Democrats and media ignored the actual accusations and simply howled racism.
Facilitated by the media, Democrats never engage in substantive debate, but rather stoke emotions. Trump broke two cardinal rules of the liberal intelligentsia: You are not allowed to criticize Democrats especially minorities and you are never allowed to fight back. Forget the genuine criticism of their statements and policies. The only issue is Trump dared criticize Democrat women of color. For the media, that is always and absolutely racist.
Nothing Trump said was racist. He only denounced their incessant maligning of ICE and Israel and their constant calls for the abolishment of capitalism and implementation of socialism. The squad cannot counter those criticisms because they are true, so they resort to the racism the card. When liberals have no argument, any dissent is racist.
Despite their relentless ridiculous accusations of racism, it’s the squad that wields racism like cudgel. Last November, the squad joined the “Justice Democrats,” a group devoted to recruiting minority candidates to primary Democrats deemed too moderate and too white. They even accused Speaker Nancy Pelosi of being racist for not catering to their demands. Their actions undoubtedly show they are indeed the racists.
Omar refuses to condemn al Qaeda and mocks Americans afraid of the notorious terrorist group. Tlaib refuses to recognize Israel’s right to exist and accuses anyone supporting Israel of having loyalty to a foreign power. She glosses over her apparent loyalty to the Palestinians. She also made her vulgar debut upon being sworn in declaring she is here to “impeach the mother f****r. She said that to her young son! Pressley said “We don’t need any more black faces that don’t want to be a black voice.” In other words, the only legitimate black voice is a leftist black voice. And Ocasio-Cortez stunningly compared US Detention Centers to NAZI concentration camps! These women are horribly radical and sometimes plain stupid.
Louisiana Senator John Kennedy called them the four horsewomen of the apocalypse. He pointed out that the squad considers America wicked in its origins and even more wicked now, so they are determined to dismantle the republic and remake it in a socialist image. Ocasio-Cortez said America is only maybe 10% better than the garbage of the Reagan years. Not to disagree with the good Senator, but the squad are Trojan horsewomen. They rode into office hiding behind their skirts and color offering hope in their diversity. But make no mistake, they are on a mission to disrupt the Democrat Party and recast it as the unabashed socialist party. Then they will destroy the republic.
But Trump is on to their game. And actually, savvy Democrats like Pelosi also realize the squad is overplaying their hand in Congress and more importantly with the American people. Pelosi tried to rein them in, but Trump out maneuvered her. His brilliant Twitter rants forced Democrats to circle the wagons and embrace the hopelessly extremist squad. The squad are now the Democrat standard bearers for 2020. The last time Democrats lurched that radically left George McGovern lost in a landslide to Richard Nixon in 1972.
Now stuck with the squad, Democrats are panicking because they have seen this movie before. Well played Mr. President!
