Alice Ruth Gates, 74, died Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Mobile.
Mrs. Gates was a native and former resident of Atmore who had resided in Walnut Hill for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Antioch Free Will Baptist Church in Nokomis, Ala.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 13, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Chase officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Petty-Eastside Funeral Home directing.s
Mrs. Gates is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Lee Gates, Jr. of Walnut Hill; two daughters, Rebel Gates of Walnut Hill and Linda Lassitter Hamilton of Panana City, Fla.; three brothers, Jimmy Davis of Century, Emmette Davis of Montgomery and Billy (Diane) Davis of Monroeville; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by one son, Martin R. “Buddy” Lassitter; her parents, Jesse and Alice Davis; two brothers, Roy Davis and Jesse Davis; and three sisters, Eliose Isaacks, Joyce Osborne and Catherine Davis.
