First program finishes

The Escambia County Children's Policy Council recently hosted its first annual summer enrichment program.

This program is designed to enhance the potential in our young people by building and reinforcing positive characteristics.

During this summer enrichment program youth were provided training on how to develop and track goals which will help enhance their chances of success.

Dr. Teresa Smith provided two workshops on the importance of Mental Health. Youth were trained on positive social interactions by counselors from The Compass II Life Program.

Atmore Mayor Jim Staff, Assistant Chief John Stallworth and Captain Daniel Love, who are always a supporter for our youth initiatives, presented graduation certificates.

The Program was a partnership between the Escambia County Children's Policy Council and the Compass II Life Program.

The plan is to develop the program next year into a full camp with more activities and fun.

"When we invest in our young people, we invest in a brighter future,” said Kaurean Reynolds.
