Two traffic stops net meth, pot and paraphernalia

A Milton woman who swallowed an unknown amount of methamphetamine following a traffic stop in East Brewton was taken to the D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital emergency room prior to being booked into the county jail on drug charges.

Jamie Nicole McCoy, 31, Oak Forrest Drive, Milton, was arrested June 21 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth), unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

According to police reports, East Brewton Sgt. Paige Howell initiated a traffic stop on a silver Nissan Titan on Forrest Avenue for failing to maintain a proper lane.

Howell reported McCoy told him she had brake problems and that was why she could not keep the vehicle straight.

K-9 'Bruiser' alerted on the truck and a search revealed a pipe used to smoke meth and some needles that contained a clear substance that tested positive for meth.

Howell also reported that McCoy swallowed an unknown amount of meth following the stop.

She was jailed on $5,000 bond.

Two arrested

A Pensacola man and a Kentucky woman were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop June 23 in East Brewton.

Steffanie Redwing, 19, of Kentucky and Raymond Edwards, 25, of Pensacola, were both charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports, Cpl. Brandon Mealer initiated a traffic stop on Forrest Avenue for speeding. As the officer talked to the driver, he reported smelling the odor of marijuana. He asked the driver and passenger if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle and they handed him a small amount of marijuana, a grinder and a vape pen containing THC oil.
