Bratt students battle with books
May 23, 2019
The third, fourth and fifth grades from Bratt Elementary School participated in the Escambia County (Fla.) School District’s 2019 ‘Battle of the Books’ (BOB) competition after months of reading and quizzing each other on the details from a list of books. Teams of students from Bratt joined grades three to twelve to take over Booker T. Washington High school this past Saturday, May 4, for the competition.
One hundred and two teams with approximately three hundred and six participants competed in the eighth annual Battle of the Books. Over this past school year, the participants read books from the Sunshine State Young Readers Award’s list and Florida Teens Read list.
“Participants competed by answering five rounds of eight questions,” explained Dolores Underwood, BOB organizer. “It was an awesome battle!”
