The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is investigating the apparent suicide of a state inmate reported Friday at Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Friday, prison officials found 24-year-old Rashaud Dederic Morrissette unresponsive in a housing area.
Medical staff performed CPR on Morrissett but were unable to revive him. His death has been ruled a suicide.
ADOC is not releasing additional details of the incident pending an ongoing investigation and an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
