Margaret Christine Byrd Smith, 83, of East Brewton, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, in a Mississippi medical Facility after a brief illness.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Lucedale, Miss. and former resident of Mobile before moving to East Brewton. A member of the East Brewton First United Methodist Church, where she was over Communion for the beginning of the month, she was a homemaker who worked formerly as a telephone operator.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the East Brewton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jean Spikes officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sisters, Mary Red of Long Beach, Miss. and Kathryn (Connie) Wilkerson of Lucedale, Miss.; and 12 nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas E. Smith.
