Ruby Lee 'Madea' Mims-Brown

Ruby Lee “Madea” Mims-Brown, 87, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018.

Mrs. Mims-Brown was born Aug. 9, 1931, to Isaiah and Dora Brooks-Mims in Owassa, Ala. A resident of Owassa for many years, where she was a member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, she relocated to Marion, Ill.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Taylor officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Mims-Brown is survived by two daughters, Christine (Tommie) Carter and Dora Bell Hawthorne, both of Marion; five sisters, Eria (Edward) Stallworth and Dorothy Jackson, both of Evergreen, Ala., Susie Mixon of Huntsville, Ala., Luella Mims-Ellis of Clearwater, Fla. And Ceenie Smith of Georgiana, Ala.; five grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends,s

Mrs. Mims-Brown was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Wright; six brothers, Asaiah Mims, Jr., Tommy Lee Mims, Zachariah Mims, Moses Mims, Willie J. Mims and David Mims; two sisters, Lucille Dickerson and Sallie Mae Watkins; and one grandchild.s
