Flomaton native named 'Miss Indian Alabama'

Flomaton High School class of 2015 graduate and hometown girl Emily Fayard was recently crowned “Miss Indian Alabama” at the Alabama Capitol Building in Montgomery.

The competition and scholarship program is administered through the Alabama Indian Affairs Commission and is open to members of state recognized tribes.

As an ambassador for this prestigious title, Emily will strive to bring to light issues that indigenous people of Alabama face in today’s environment. One of her first duties as Miss Indian Alabama will be to meet with Governor Kay Ivey scheduled for January 2019.

Fayard is currently a senior at Auburn University. She is a proud representative for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and plays a very active role with the Cultural Department and Tribal Youth Council.
